This is the recipe to make some of the best brownies you’ll ever have. Be warned, they come out dense. Personally, I can’t eat them after around 3 pm or it’ll keep me up at night. But they are damn good.

Ingredients

  • 200 grams of butter roughly chopped (~1.75 sticks)
  • 250 grams Dark Chocolate (1 and 2/3 cups)
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 300 grams Caster or Granulated Sugar (1 and 1/2 cups)
  • 2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 105 grams (3/4 cup) plain flour or AP flour, sifted
  • 40 grams (1/2 cup) cocoa powder, sifted
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 150 grams (1 cup) Chocolate Chips
  • 100 grams (1 cup) Walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F, grease a 9″x13″ glass baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In large microwave safe bowl, add butter and dark chocolate. Put in microwave for 30 seconds, remove and stir, repeat until fully melted down and incorporated.
  3. Add sifted flour, cocoa powder and salt to one bowl.
  4. Add eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract into another bowl and mix until just incorporated (~30 seconds).
  5. Add flour, cocoa powder, and salt mixture to melted butter and dark chocolate, then add the egg, sugar, and vanilla mixture to that, stir until thick, smooth brownie batter forms. Add in chocolate chips (and optionally walnuts) last and mix in.
  6. Pour batter into lined pan and smooth to even layer.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes until top has become shiny and a tooth pick comes out clean.
  8. Rest for a while
  9. Cut into fairly small pieces, it’s very rich but comes out great.
